How will the world economy be in the year 2023? The IM chief sounded the alarm.
IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva has said that a third of the world will be in recession in 2023 and it will be a difficult year for most global economies.
In an interview with the American TV "CBS", IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the new year is going to be more difficult than the last year because the three major centers of development, the US, Europe, and China, are experiencing weak economic activity at the same time.
Kristalina Georgieva said that it is likely to be the first time in 40 years that China's growth in 2022 will be equal to or lower than global growth, with the expected spread of the coronavirus in China in the coming months also affecting its economy. This could have negative effects on both regional and global development.
Regarding the US economy, Georgieva said it is different than other economies and may be able to avoid the economic stress that is expected to affect one-third of the world's economies.
