First ODI; Pakistan defeated New Zealand

Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the first ODI match to take a 0-1 lead in the three-match series.


New Zealand had given Pakistan a target of 256 runs to win in the first ODI match, which Pakistan achieved in 48.1 overs for the loss of four wickets. Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan scored half-centuries.


Fakhar Zaman 56, Babar Azam 66, Haris Sohail 32, and Imamul Haq 11 runs were dismissed. Mohammad Rizwan remained not out with 77 and Agha Salman with 13 runs.


In the match played at the National Bank Arena Cricket Ground in Karachi, Pakistan won the toss and decided to field, the visiting team scored 255 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.


Naseem Shah dismissed 5 players and Osama Mir dismissed 2 players.


New Zealand's 5 wickets fell for 147 runs against Pakistan, Naseem Shah dismissed Dion Conway in the first over, Finn Allen 29 and Kane Williamson 26, Daryl Mitchell 36, and Tom Latham 42.



Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Bracewell formed a valuable partnership of 66 runs, both were dismissed for 37 and 43 runs respectively, Mitchell Santner played an inning of 21 runs, and Tim Southee was not out for 15 runs.


On behalf of Pakistan, Naseem Shah dismissed 5 players by giving 57 runs, Usama Mir took 2 catches for 42 runs on debut, Muhammad Wasim and Muhammad Nawaz dismissed one player each, and Haris Rauf gave 54 runs and no one. Couldn't take a wicket.
