There was a shortage of insulin in government hospitals in Lahore. There was a wave of anxiety among diabetic patients.
The facility of free insulin was suspended in several dispensaries including Mayo and Jinnah. Insulin to keep blood sugar normal is not available in Services Hospital and Gangaram Hospital, free insulin is available only in Lahore General Hospital.
The supply of free insulin to registered patients at Mayo and Jinnah Hospital has been suspended. For diabetic patients, the cost of insulin every week is more than 1000 rupees. Patients are facing severe hardships as supply is affected.
According to Punjab Health Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi, the health department is taking steps to supply insulin and has started purchasing medicines.
