Chairman Nepra said that overall fuel prices in the international markets increased at least eight times while the Pakistani rupee has also depreciated by half against the dollar, which means the overall impact on electricity prices should be 16 times higher. Because 65% of the country's electricity is being generated from imported fuel, Nepra did not increase the tariff by 16 times, by 8 times, but even by 4 times.


Regarding the recovery of fixed charges from closed industries by K Electric, Chairman Nepra said that under the relevant laws, all such closed industries have the option to apply for disconnection, which will save them from fixed charges.
