The Election Commission has rejected MQM's request to hold local body elections on new voter lists in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Thatta.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has given a decision on the request of MQM to conduct local body elections on new voter lists in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Thatta.
The Election Commission, while rejecting the request of MQM, declared that the municipal elections in Karachi and Hyderabad will be held on the old voter lists.
The Election Commission has said in its decision that local body elections in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Thatta will be held on January 15 only.
The Election Commission approved the request of Jamaat-e-Islami to hold the local body elections on January 15 and directed the Sindh government to ensure the arrangements for the elections.
