Karachi Test: Chasing 319 runs, Pakistan lost two wickets for zero

The fourth day of play in the second Test between Pakistan and New Zealand came to an end, chasing 319 runs with Pakistan falling by two wickets for zero. 


Abdullah Shafiq and Mir Hamza returned to the pavilion without opening the account. 


On the fourth day of the Karachi Test, New Zealand declared their second innings 277 runs for the loss of 5 wickets and gave Pakistan a target of 319 runs to win. 


Tom Blundell and Michael Bracewell stood out with 74 runs apiece, while Naseem Shah, Hasan, Abrar, Mir Hamza, and Salman Agha claimed 1 wicket apiece.

The second and final match of the Test series between New Zealand and Pakistan is underway at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.


Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan started their first innings on 407 runs for 9 wickets on the fourth day. 

 

Abrar Ahmed was left lbw by Ish Sodhi for no runs, and Saud Shakeel remained not out after scoring 125 runs. 


Pakistan lost their last five wickets for just 23 runs, Pakistan's fifth wicket fell at 385 and the entire team returned to the pavilion at 408 runs, Kiwi spinners Ijaz Patel and Ish Sodhi took three wickets each. 


Imam-ul-Haq was outstanding with 83, Sarfraz Ahmed 78 while Agha Salman was dismissed with 41 runs.
