Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif says that the flood water has not subsided, but international aid to flood-affected Pakistan is decreasing. 


Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wrote an article in a British newspaper and informed the international community about the devastation caused by the flood. The rains and floods claimed 1,700 lives, an area as large as Switzerland was flooded, and 33 million people were affected. The number of people suffering from food shortages has doubled to 1.4 million due to the floods. 


The Prime Minister wrote that the submerged areas are becoming permanent lakes. The affected areas are expected to flood again by July 2023. Exposed to extreme weather conditions. Despite the economic crisis, we mobilized one and a half billion dollars of emergency aid from our weak resources.


Shahbaz Sharif said that according to the World Bank and the European Union, we have suffered a loss of 30 billion dollars due to floods. He said that he will co-host the Geneva Conference with the UN Secretary-General on January 9. 


The Prime Minister says that the international donors will present a two-part framework for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the flood victims at the conference. Pakistan is still in the grip of climate disaster and international assistance is essential to save millions of lives.
