Nine people died of suffocation after a stampede during New Year's fireworks display in Uganda.


Officials say the deaths were caused by a stampede at a shopping mall in Uganda's capital to watch New Year's fireworks.


According to the report, people were stuck in traffic at a shopping mall near the capital city of Kampala due to the rush of people watching the fireworks. Many people collapsed during the stampede and chaos.


According to the authorities, 9 people died due to suffocation. A 10-year-old child is also among the dead.
